Veo 3.1 is rolling out — and Google’s clearly setting its sights on OpenAI’s Sora 2

Veo 3.1: Google’s AI video tool just leveled up — Veo 3.1 is rolling out through third-party platforms. The new version can handle multi-prompts for multi-shot effects and now generates full HD (1080p) videos up to a minute long.

‎What set Google’s Veo 3 apart from earlier AI video tools was its precision — it could sync character lip movements perfectly with voiceovers, music, and sound effects, all in one seamless clip. Google quickly integrated it into Gemini Flash 2.5, letting users generate videos straight from a chatbot prompt.

‎Now, Veo 3.1 is pushing things even further. It’s not built into Gemini just yet, but you can already try it out through third-party AI video platforms like Higgsfield, Imagine Art, and Envato.

‎The Higgsfield platform highlights that Veo 3.1 can now generate clips lasting over 30 seconds. According to its site, “Whether starting from text-to-video or image-to-video prompts, Veo 3.1 ensures characters stay consistent across every frame, environments transition naturally, and camera angles shift with the precision of a real production studio.”

‎That’s a big jump from the short, eight-second clips Veo 3 could handle. Higgsfield even lists “30 seconds+” videos as one of Veo 3.1’s key upgrades.

‎Imagine Art echoes that sentiment, noting, “With Google Veo 3.1, you don’t have to look twice to ensure character and scene consistency. It captures character and scene interaction with perfection.”

‎Veo 3.1 also comes with Cinematic Presets. These give you complete control of the narrative of your visual storytelling, so you can easily incorporate complex effects without having to do all the prompting hard work yourself. Presets include drone shots, slow or fast pans, zoom in and out, tracking shots and more. Lighting and tone presets are also available.
